Its not about the size of you list... it’s about your relationship.

Maintaining a good relationship with the people on your email list is crucial to email deliverability and high open rates.

High open rates increase the chance of the sale to someone who is already engaged with you.

So here are 5 tips for keeping your email list strong and working for you to increase your sales.

Tip #1: Clean your list every 6 months or so.

If people don’t open or click for six months or longer, they are not engaged with you.

Get rid of them.

They are not going to magically become a customer.

Your stuff is probably going to their spam folder anyway.

This can hurt your deliverability if your emails are seen as spam.

Tip#2: Encourage people to “reply back” when you can.

This helps deliverability.

It shows email providers that there is engagement and a conversation going on when they reply back to you.

It also keeps you out of the promotion and spam folders.

Tip #3: Mail different promotions to different segments.

Don’t just have a one-size-fits all email campaign.

If you have vastly different segments, mail different promotions and content to different segments.

Mailing specific content a person will most likely be interested in will increase open rates.

Choose content for specific segments by looking at buying behavior or interactions with you.

Creating emails this way will increase engagement because the emails will be more relevant to the person’s interests.

Tip #4: Mail consistently and frequently.

They opted into your list.

This means they are interested in what you have to say and want to hear more from you.

So give them what they want.

Email every day or at least 3-4 times a week.

And be consistent.

Mail on the same day and time each week so the people on your list expect it.

Tip #5: Only mail to people who have opted into your list.

This might seem obvious, but some people don’t understand the importance of emailing to people who want to hear from you.

Buying a list and then mailing to them is spamming.

And you don’t want to be identified by the email providers as a spammer.
